Patchwork Garden samples 1-12 002 I finally finished all the blocks for the “Patchwork Year”  Block of the Month.   I used the “Patchwork Garden “fabric by Moda designed by Kathy Schmitz.  The blocks are also designed by Kathy Schmitz.  I love how it turned out with using a red, cream and tan colourway.  I used DMC 3777 embroidery floss.  I had ordered the Sulky thread that was suggested but it was too red.  It needed to be more maroon so the 3777 blends in really nice.  This is the January block.   If you are interested in signing up you may do so at any time.

Registration fee is $15.00.

Blocks 1-12 are $18.00 a month plus shipping ($3.00)

Then comes February’s block reminding us of Valentine’s Day!  For those of you who are doing the block of the month, I try to follow the fabrics suggested on the pattern but I didn’t feel it necessary to order a whole bolt when I needed only small piece here and there of some  so I  substituted with another fabric in the Patchwork Garden line in a few of the blocks. That does not explain why mine is different from the pattern cover.   I have no idea why I chose the fabrics I did.  My mind must have been somewhere else.   I was going to redo it but besides confusing you it really won’t make any difference.

Canadian quilter magazine

Guess who is featured in the Canadian Quilter’s Magazine for the November issue?  It’s me–Pastime Pieces.  I was asked awhile back if they could write an article about me and if I would submit a pattern.  Of course I agreed and since it was an issue coming out before Christmas I thought why not design something for the magazine, something a little different like wool, fabric and embroidery.  The pillow has done really well and receives lots of compliments.  I hope to do lots more designing this winter!

Here it is!  The line drawings for the pattern in the magazine are not the right size.   It needs to be expanded by 150%.

If you are interested in ordering the pattern or the kit,  it is available on the website.

Even though I do not have any little grandaughters to sew for right now, I sure loved making these little girl dresses anyways.

Olive Ann patterns come with several sizes included in one pattern.  There is also  a pattern for a little baby doll dress  to match inside.

Check out her other patterns as well.

The  Butterscotch dress is made from the Timeless Treasure fabric called White Frog Prince.

Triangle frenzy tablerunner 001  Triangle Frenzy Runner

1.  Triangle Frenzy Tablerunner- Just by cutting a bunch of 60 degree triangles out of  1 1/2″  Harvest border print using the 12″ or 8″ 60 degree ruler you come up with a beautiful tablerunner.  I have enough left over to make another one.  It is so much fun to make!  I made this one for my sister for her birthday to put in her new kitchen.

2.  Now I want to try the Triangle Frenzy Hexagon or the Easy Striped Tablerunner.
